"Never sleep with your bra on." Isn't this what we've always been told?
Sleeping with a bra on makes us wonder if it's okay? Will it have an effect on my breast? Will it have an effect on our blood circulation while we sleep?
In general, we advise to NOT sleep with a bra. Sleeping should be a time where we allow the body to rest, and relax without any form of restrictions. Bras in this case, especially underwired bras or any form of compression bra, will potentially impede the lymph nodes around our breasts and armpits, which are responsible for flushing out toxins from our body. Donning a bra 24/7 may not also provide the skin an opportunity to breathe, recover, and repair itself from any possible damage.
If you really have to, or prefer to wear a bra during your sleep, it is important to opt for something that will help you relax during sleep.
There are a few things to consider in this case:
This also depends on your breast size. If you have a big breast size and don’t want it to be sagging then you can sleep with bra on. If you choose to sleep with a bra, make it looser, softer, and more flexible than what you normally wear during the day. If you wear underwire during the day, you should look for a bra with no wires that fits well and sits as well as your day bra.
The Truenaked collection is an ideal bra for sleeping in. Very soft, seamless, wireless, and comfortable, you'll forget you're wearing a bra.
If you desire to wear a ra at night during your pregnancy, or when you are lactating you are welcome to do so. It is important to go for maternity bras that are soft, supportive yet super comfortable. Also ensure that these bras hold the nursing pads in proper position to catch any dripping milk while you rest.
We would highly recommend Momready bra due to it’s flexibility and lightweight structure. These bras do not have an underwire too which makes them perfect companion for sleeping.
So, in response to the title question,
"IS SLEEPING IN A BRA BAD FOR YOU?"
We would say that while there is no fixed rule against sleeping with a bra, it looks like the odds are in favour of freeing your breasts from all restrictions while you sleep. If you do decide to make sleeping with a bra a nightly routine, do ensure it is one that is soft, breathable, and without any form of underwire.
