Kick-starting into 2023 with nothing but love, love and lots of love. Here and there we have been reading and listening to people chatting around, discussing the importance of love languages in all the relationships we could possibly have -- romance, platonic, family or friendships.
*In case you haven’t heard, the theory is based on a book written by Gary Chapman where he dives deep into The Five Love Languages we are seeing everywhere today (huge thanks to him).
Embracing the love in the air this Valentine’s season, we are going to help break it down for you. Let’s see, which lover are you?
1. Acts of Service
“I do it out of love.”
Your heart softens up in the little things your partner do for you. While it is great to know you can take care of yourself, having someone else who is willing to do it on your behalf just feels..nice.
It may not be the best idea to be with someone who often goes back on promises or unwilling to offer help especially when you need it. It will result in you being unhappy and unfulfilled – we’d say it’s a red flag!
2. Receiving Gifts
“It’s the thought that matters.”
Hand-made gifts, hand-written letters, and thoughtful gifts – these are your favorites. Being on the receiving end gives you the fulfilment of being remembered and having significance in other people’s lives. It’s never about the price or the materials – it’s all about the gesture.
Those who see you as materialistic or claim you are demanding when it comes to gifts on special occasion, we gotta say; they are not the one for you.
3. Physical Touch
“Action speaks louder than words.”
Just cutely touchy. Some of you like to express it to the world; PDA is what people call it these days (Public Displays of Affection). Receiving love through physical touch gets to you and even a slight body contact warms your heart.
It will turn your day to a bad one if your partner refuses to be close and intimate with you reaching the end of the day. You deserve someone who wants to touch you willingly and from the heart just the way you like it (with consent of course!).
4. Words of Affirmation
“Tell me why you love me.”
Words matter to you. On bad days and happy days, words have the power to either brighten up your day or vice versa. You thrive best when you receive compliments, supportive words, assurances and advices. A simple ‘I’m here for you’ goes a long way.
Unfortunately, the one who possess this Love Language naturally will fall for the sweet talkers because the words are all dreamy and too good to be true. You may want to be extra careful!
5. Quality Time
“I will make time for you.”
All kind of dates are the best kind of dates for you. Amidst the busy schedule you have in pursuing your career, studies and hobbies – spending a few hours or a day out with your partner is very much your kind of love.
You may struggle with rejection and delays – having to push back or cancel the date you have planned together (ugh!). It saddens you because you have mentally prepared for the day but have to wait longer to spend some time with your partner.
